\nThursday afternoon, March 26, 2026.<\/p>\n

65 rue des Grands Moulins, Paris 13th arrondissement. That day, the halls of INALCO \u2014 the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations \u2014 were filled with Japanese from morning on. The Journ\u00e9e du Japon, the annual event organised by the student association Dejima. Koto, taiko, calligraphy, matcha \u2014 people who love Japanese culture, friends of performers, families and curious visitors of all ages, gathering in the building for one day.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 15 heures, St\u00e9phane Ferrandez et le Gang du Zabuton sont entr\u00e9s dans l'auditorium.<\/p>\n

The first thing they did was not rearrange the chairs.
\nThey placed a single cushion at the centre of the stage. That was all.
\nWhen St\u00e9phane began to speak, something shifted in the room.<\/p>\n

This year, four performers received their rakugo names.
\nGattchiri Zabuton (Alain Marras), Kosumosu Zabuton (\u00c9meline Aelig), Sh\u00f4jiki Zabuton (Alexandre Cyprien-Scerri), and Kiryoku Zabuton (Mycki-kun).<\/p>\n

The stories are adapted by Sandrine Garbuglia, who transforms the group’s translations into full French-language rakugo scripts.
